Development of monocoque carbon bike frame (MCQ C-FRAME)
Project »Development of a monocoque carbon bike frame " will be carried out within the consortium of companies Berk-Vehovar Kompoziti doo and Litostroj Power doo and aims to develop a monocoque carbon bike frame and the development of innovative technology for its production - infusion of tubular profiles. The aim of the project is to improve the properties of the bicycle frame compared to the existing prototype and comparable products present on the market, reduce its weight and increase rigidity, and reduce manufacturing costs. The product will be developed within the project to the stage that it will be validated in its final form and will be suitable for use in a real environment and for sale.
Objectives of the operation:
- product development - monocoque carbon bike frame,
- development of innovative product production technology - infusion of tubular profiles,
- placing the product on the market.
The main activities of the project include the development of technology "infusion of tubular profiles", optimization of cycling frame properties (industrial design, laminate plan, research in the use of new materials - ingegra, graphene ..), development and manufacture of tools for frame production (precision aluminum molds), solving the problem of removing supporting materials in the frame pipes and developing and planning the production process.
Prior to the start of the project, the product is in the phase of technological development TRL 6, in the form of a prototype, which has already been tested in a simulated environment and reflects the desired properties, which will be further improved or optimized through project activities. The project will enable the final development of innovative technology for the production of monocoque ultralight composite components and shorten the time required for the development of the carbon bicycle frame and the start of its sale.

Ultra light carbon cycling shoes (UL C-SHOES)
Project Ultra light carbon cycling shoes (UL C-SHOES), carried out by the companies Berk-Vehovar Kompoziti doo and Alpina doo, aims to develop ultra-light carbon cycling shoes and to develop innovative technology for their production. The final design product will have improved properties compared to existing prototypes and comparable products present on the market. During the project, new ultra-light cycling shoes will be developed, which will achieve a lower weight than all functionally comparable cycling shoes available on the market. The product will be developed within the project to the stage that it will be confirmed in its final form and will be suitable for use in a real environment and for entering the market.
Objectives of the operation:
- development of ultra light carbon cycling shoe,
- development of technologies, procedures and materials necessary for the manufacture of the product,
- placing the product on the market.
The project will enable the final development of the carbon sole of a cycling shoe and the technology of its production. The project activities will focus on the research of joining the carbon sole with the upper part of the shoe, which is a special challenge due to the stiffness of the carbon sole. The result of the project will be a new product - ultra light cycling shoes. The project will help carry out research and development activities and shorten the time of product development until entering the market. With the help of the project, the consortium partners will have greater opportunities to strengthen their competitive position in the market and place them in value chains, part of which is already formed through established project cooperation. Both consortium companies invest their own resources in research, development and innovation through the project.

Monocoque carbon bike - Penetrating the world market with ultra light sports equipment (MCQ C-WHEEL)
In the company Berk-Vehovar Kompoziti doo we decided to develop and commercialize the innovative product “Monocoque carbon bike ring”, with which we plan to penetrate global markets. Monocoque carbon ring is fully developed in our company and represents a technological innovation, making it the only product of its kind on the market, which is made entirely from one piece. The characteristic of our products is that they are made of appropriate technically advanced and advanced materials, primarily carbon, which allows to achieve extremely low product weight without the risk of losing comfort, strength, purpose / functionality and safety. The general and long-term goals of the project are:
- penetrating the global market and gaining significant market share
- growth and business development of the company,
- strengthening the company name and brand.
- From this follow the specific objectives of the project:
- optimization of used materials and product testing,
- demonstrations, tests and development of product variations,
- preparation of the final design of the bike,
- brand development,
- preparation of business plan and marketing strategy.
Through the activities of the operation, a feasibility study of the project was prepared, which showed that the project is feasible and that it is reasonable and justified to continue with its implementation. The results of the project reflect the opportunity to take advantage of advanced materials and advanced production technologies, and the product itself represents an opportunity to penetrate global markets. In the feasibility study, we proved that the successful commercialization and sale of the product in foreign markets is the key to success, as evidenced by the financial analysis of the feasibility study projected increases in revenue in the years after the start of sales. The current market situation and the presence of competition with similar products also indicate a business opportunity.
We see the range of our product as a target in global markets, namely the markets of Western Europe, North America, Australia and Asia. Innovative technology and improved features of our product provide a competitive advantage over similar products. With improved features and lower production costs, the monocoque carbon ring follows all current trends and offers solutions required by a specific market segment.
The results of the feasibility study, which are also the results of the operation, give encouraging signals for the continuation of the MCQ C-WHEEL project, which, according to the results of the performed analyzes, also promises positive business and financial success. The cost of the operation amounts to EUR 35,000.00, of which the EU contribution is EUR 28,000.00 (80 %) and the contribution of the Republic of Slovenia EUR 7,000.00 (20 %).
